Seems to be the easiest way.

Instead of doing bitmap, in greyscale mode you can also do a "filter menu--> pixelate--> color halftone." works the same way.
Select the channel, delete the white, drag levels over to black and you've got nice, isolated black dots!

Create a few at various values and dot size and save as your own "zipatone" sheets to use in the future. yay computers!Oliverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11927950064124176343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5734322865929987142.post-84681531307496666922010-06-04T20:26:35.811-04:002010-06-04T20:26:35.811-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Oliverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11927950064124176343noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5734322865929987142.post-55429132470065833602010-06-04T20:02:15.955-04:002010-06-04T20:02:15.955-04:00Wow! It is cool how he makes analogies to the music scene. Keep the resolution pretty high (360 ppi or greater at actual size)
Make sure it's a grayscale image (Image>Mode>Grayscale).
Then make it a bitmap image. (Image>Mode>Bitmap).
In the dialog box, select Output: 720 and Method: Halftone Screen.
In the next box, select Angle:45 degrees and Shape:Round. For Frequency, select something ridiculously low like 5 or 10.
You'll have to try a few times to get the exact effect you want. Just do a command-z and put in a new figure for frequency.

The ideal thing would be to create a custom brush in Photoshop with a bitmap pattern, but I haven't gotten there yet.

If anyone has a better way, I'm listening!Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06885271094483228148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5734322865929987142.post-27031086389791468742010-06-04T11:49:32.659-04:002010-06-04T11:49:32.659-04:00Congrats, guys, this is awesome. It has me really wanting to read everyone else's stories. You both were fine ambassadors for our fart jokes as well as the thoughtful content!

Tim when the books are actually in I will place an order with you for San Diego Comic Con. I also need to hit you up and have you drop some digital knowledge on my small brain. I need to learn how to make those darn comic book small and very large graphic dots, or basically fake a moire patterns in photoshop.Woodrow J Hinton IIIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11944442150497942164noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5734322865929987142.post-75908927373817271912010-06-03T15:37:17.337-04:002010-06-03T15:37:17.337-04:00Awesome!!!
