Illustrator News: Myra Messick Simons

A while ago, I mentioned in the Illustrators Lunch Announcement that Glacier Park in Montana was looking for an Artist In Residence applications.

Myra Messick Simons decided to apply and got the position!

She says: I was accepted for this summer.  I 'm excited because I love being in the wilderness, and it will be a memorable experience for my 12 year old son. It will be an awesome opportunity to gather outdoor reference and paint on a larger scale, which I have been doing for a while. I'll let everyone know how it went when I get back later in July. There will be no internet service at the cabin where my son and I are staying, and I will not be able to use the government computers. Unfortunately, I do not own a laptop. I spent my money on art supplies and camera equipment, not to mention the cost of road travel there and back! Attached are a few paintings I have done recently.

Congratulations Myra! It makes me happy that people actually read the emails I send out each week!

  1. This is so great. Troy and I went to Glacier Park last June and it was beautiful I only wish we had seen more. We stayed at the Glacier Park Lodge which had an odd vibe from the movie The Shining. It was really cool.

I hope the residency is a wonderful experience.
