The 19" is under $600, quite a bit more inexpensive than the 21" Wacom Cintiq at $2000. I am tempted...

Illustrator News: Marlene Steele

Marlene Steele just had another cool courtroom drawing stint.

She was at the Dearborn Courthouse in Lawrenceburg Ind. for the Steve Stephenson Murder Case.
Covered sessions in the courtroom of Judge James Humphrey, prosecuting attorney Aaron Nagangard. Case began Wed 5-8 and wrapped up friday 5-17 with the testimony of the victim's son, prosecutor presenting the primary murder weapon and defense team calling character witnesses in this juried trial. Defendant did not take the stand.
Drawings were broadcast on Local 12 WKRC. Marlene notes that Anchor Deborah Dixon was great to work with again!

The drawings are still sellable there will be some to post once she scans and watermarks them, etc.(We saw them last lunch at Habit's. They were amazing!)

Marlene also has a show coming up:

Library Comicon

Panel Discussion Photo by Lisa Mauch
May 5th, the main Cincinnati Public Library Branch held a mini-comicon. It was a great event with a lot of great artists including Mike Maydak, Tim Fuller, David Michael Beck, Ken Hanson, Carol Tyler, Tony Moore, Chad King Taylor, Bruce Chrislip and many others.

We also ran into a lot of local illustrators in the audience (Woodrow Hinton III, C. F. Payne, David Hartz)

It was a great event! Hopefully they will do it again!

Sketching at the Zoo

Sketch by Amy Bogard
As I mentioned in a previous post, some of us have been sketching before or after our weekly scheduled Illustrators Lunch. This was the current week's effort. Amy Bogard and I went to the zoo. We actually got a lot of sketching in even though it felt like it may storm at any second.

I even got a vine video: https://vine.co/v/b92etaJFUxL

Not sure where next week, but if you want to go along, drop me an email!

Viki Woodworth's masks, Children's Day at the Zoo

I took these photos of kids at Children's day at the Cincinnati Zoo a couple of weeks ago.  They're coloring, then modeling, paper masks that Viki Woodworth designed: the butterfly (wildly popular with ladies of all ages) and the iguana (a huge hit with boys and girls from many countries and cultures.)

It's been a while since I've been on here, trying to find my path I guess. To illustrate or not to illustrate. But as it is, I can't get away from doing this, I do love it.

So I've gotten involved with a Kickstarter Project and I'm super excited to see where it will go. I saw a couple other familiar names on the list of illustrators as well. Check this out and if you would like to pledge that would be fantastic! If you vote for me, please use my artist code of 5116. You will be asked via email when we reach our goal.

Please share with other social venues... thank you!!!!

Wordsworth and the Dragon on Indiegogo

Scotti Cohn and I are finally getting ready to bring Wordsworth and the Dragon to the printer.

We are going to Indiegogo to raise funds for our book. So, if you have been interested in getting a copy when it is finished, place your order here.

It has been great fun working with Scotti on this. I love getting to do some ink drawings; it seems like they are rarely done anymore.

Bob Staake and Chris Raschka at Blue Manatee

Bob Staake and Caldecott Winner Chris Raschka came to Blue Manatee a couple weeks ago and I took some pictures and video for our blog.

It was an early morning (8:30 am) but they did a great job. They also said to give their salutations to the Cincinnati illustrators.

I also took some Vine Videos:
