Greenacres Artists Guild Opening October 26th



Join us for opening night of the sixth annual Greenacres Artists Guild Art Show: Art in the Making. This cocktail party is an opportunity to be the first to view and purchase the beautiful art created by some of Cincinnati's best artists and a chance to interact with the guild members in the gorgeous ambiance of the Greenacres Arts Center. 

Cincinnati artists include C. F. Payne, Linda Crank, Will Hillenbrand, Chuck Marshall, Loren Long, Carin Hebenstreit, Richard Luschek, Anne Geise, Jeff Morrow, Bruce Petrie and more.

C.F. Payne Documentary at AAC April 17th


We are screening the Bio Art Doc C.F. Payne: An American Illustrator Tues @ 12:30pm @ the AAC. This screening is FREE and is open to the public. The movie is 1hr long.

The film will screen in the the Lecture Hall on the second floor.

C.F. Payne and the filmmakers will attend and be available for a short Q&A after the movie ends.

Screening of CF Payne: An American Illustrator at NKU March 27th

We're excited to be screening our art documentary C.F. Payne: An American Illustrator!!!

The screening is FREE. Please invite your friends and fellow students. Anyone with a art, film, or design background will find the documentary interesting.

The film will screen in the University Center building.
The Otto M. Budig Theater Room 270

The film is 60mins long and C.F. Payne, Woodrow J Hinton III, and Tony Moorman will be attending the event and speaking for a short Q&A after the film.

WCPO Profile of C. F. Payne's Historic Home and Studio

 We have not done a STUDIO SPACE profile on C. F. Payne yet but WCPO has done a very good one to fill the gap!

Not only is Chris an award winning editorial and children's book illustrator, he also recently became head of the Hartford Art School’s Low-Residency Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Illustration program.

Books By the Banks 2016

It is that time of year again! The 10th Annual Books by the Banks book festival is October 15th!

There will be a bunch of illustrators there this year including:

Loren Long, Will Hillenbrand (who has a poster talk also at 1:30), C. F. Payne, Jeffrey Ebbeler, Tim Bowers, Christina Wald, Greg Pizzoli and others.

Hear Will Hillenbrand speak about the process of creating picture books and Loren Long talk about how Otis came to be. And learn about the world of sketching with CF Payne.

Making It Showing at the Art Academy Friday, February 27th



Come to the Art Academy Friday, February 27th, 5-8 p.m. for the screening of "Making It" followed by a Q&A with the Director Anthony Moorman and Creator Woodrow Hinton.

THIS IS A FREE PUBLIC EVENT!

“Making It” is a Documentary about the daily struggles of making a living, staying creative, and making it all up as we go along. The documentary follows three Illustrators, Andrew Bawidamann, Eric Fortune, and Brian Ewing.

J. M. W. Turner Movie Trailer



It seems like movies about painters are all the rage. This one looks really good with Timothy Spall as Turner. It should be in the US in December. Perhaps they will have another discussion after the showing similar to the Tim's Vermeer one by C. F. Payne.

I saw a huge special exhibition of Turner at the MET in 2008. It is an amazing body of work when you see more than one or two. His life story is very interesting.

Documentary directed by magician Teller of Penn & Teller, follows Tim Jenison as he tries to understand and re-create the surprisingly realistic painting techniques used by Dutch Master Johannes Vermeer – 150 years before the invention of photography.

Artist-illustrator C.F. Payne's artwork has graced the covers of Time Magazine, Readers Digest, Sports Illustrated, The New York Times Book Review and Sunday Magazine,MAD Magazine, der Spiegel, U.S. News and World Report, The Atlantic Monthly and more. He has been commissioned to paint countless politicians, authors and entertainers and has illustrated ten children’s picture books.

His artwork has been exhibited at The Cincinnati Art Museum, The National Portrait Gallery, The Norman Rockwell Museum, The Society of Illustrators Museum of American Illustration, The Selby Gallery at Ringling College of Art and Design and numerous college and university galleries.

Payne has illustrated more than a dozen picture books, including the Texas Bluebonnet winner "Shoeless Joe & Black Betsy" and" Turkey Bowl", both written by Phil Bildner. He also illustrated the "New York Times" bestsellers "The Remarkable Farkle McBride" and "Micawber", both by John Lithgow. He teaches at the Columbus College of Design, where he is the chair of the Illustration Department. C.F. Payne lives with his wife and children in Cincinnati, Ohio. Visit him at CFPayne.com."
