On the Spot Portrait

I just posted this picture on my blog, but I'm really happy with it and wanted to share it with all of you. I created the pencils while watching a reading of the poet/author Jim Carroll back in 2005. I inked it a year later, and the miracle of Photoshop enabled me today to add color to a piece done on crappy sketchbook paper.

  1. It's cool... I am snapping my fingers in a beatnik kinda way...

  2. I like it! And I like the orange version posted here the best.
Not to take away from Jim Carroll's carefully crafted words, but as an artist and a father, I would've hoped that Kurt Cobain's soon-to-be-fatherless daughter might give him an extra reason to push on as well.

  3. The color is a great touch, but I also like the drawing a lot...
