Year of the Pig

My friend's daughters are into their Chinese zodiacs. So, he wanted me to do a painting of them for their birthdays this year. This is the Year of the Pig one. The other will be Year of the Monkey. This was a super fun idea. I finally bought good water color paper and wow, what a difference that made. I'm super excited to start painting more soon.

Dexter the tubby beagle

A quick sketch I did of Dexter, our beagle who is a wee bit overweight. I took him to the vet today and was told he should lose a few pounds. So, here marks his hopefully heaviest. A few trips to the park and hopefully I'll be able to sketch a svelt Dex by fall!

Some pencil drawings

Here are some recent pencil drawings I've done. Crazy dock-jumping fish-creatures and an elephant clinging to a balloon...

A drawing from A Storm of Swords

I'm a big fan of the George R. R. Martin book series A Song of Ice and Fire. I recently finished the third book. Here is a drawing from when Arya and the Hound need to cross a swollen river...though I realize now I remembered some details about the scene wrong. Oops! It's probably no more liberty than the HBO series would have taken, if anyone's been watching that - yikes! :)

Retro Spring

A drawing for "retro spring", which I branded with my graphic design business, Fill Creative. The flowers are our brand colors. And hand-drew our logo. We have a space in our studio that we would like to hang posters that we change out every so often. So, I could see this being a quarterly/seasonal poster for that purpose, or used for mailers/email blasts.

Society6 Submission for the "US AND THEM" Collaboration: They Have Weapons

I've been putting some drawings on Society6. They do "collaborations" and self-publish a zine from time to time. The most recent one is themed "Us and Them". Below is my take on it.

The Goose Down the Street

This is the goose that lives at a house down the street from us. They rehabbed it and now it won't go away. It cracks me up every time I see it roaming the property. They have a little kiddie pool for it, and a fenced area with straw. When the humans are outside hitting golf balls or throwing a football, the goose it right there with them, like a pet dog. I know they want it to go away, but I think there is mutual love.

At the Gym...

There are a lot of awesome characters at the gym. I am trying to draw more and the gym has been some pretty good inspiration so far! :)  I love people!!

Fill Creative Open House - This Friday!

Hi folks! I'm inviting everyone out to our graphic design studio space in Montgomery tomorrow (Friday) from 4pm - 8pm. I know I haven't met a lot (most) of you, but it would be a fun little creative stop for your Friday evening! We're going to have some snacks and drinks and great conversation.

Plus, please check out the fundraiser we're doing along with our Open House to raise money for Jeff Peppet's Man of the Year Campaign with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! Jeff is a fantastic person I had the pleasure of working with in the past. We are thrilled to help contribute to his cause! Please check out his website and great story:  http://youcanchangetheodds.com/

Hope to see everyone there! Email with any questions: info@fillcreative.com

Thanks!! Stephanie Smith

Chevette Postcards

This is a set of illustrations I did for a friend who helped remodel our kitchen, who also loves Chevettes. The star of these drawings is his burnt orange '76, shown in various famous big places across the world. I ended up making them into postcards, with small postcard-style write-ups on the back (shown here underneath each drawing). You will probably have to click on the image in order to read the captions. Or you can see them all larger on my blog: http://stephaniesmithart.blogspot.com/
