NCS Special Event for Roy Doty

Please join the NCS Great Lakes Chapter and friends
 on Saturday, September 17, 2011 
for two special events!

A Show Opening and Special Reception
for Roy Doty’s wonderful illustrations
from 3:00 – 4:30 PM
at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum
of Ohio State University
27 West 17th Avenue Mall

Then, continue the festivities with a delicious celebratory dinner
at Schmidt’s Historic German Village Restaurant
240 East Kossuth St.
Columbus, Ohio
from 5:00 to 8:00 PM
during which we will toast, thank, and
congratulate both Roy Doty
and Lucy Shelton Caswell on their
many, many achievements including this
year’s top awards from the National Cartoonists Society,
the Gold Key Award (Cartoonists Hall of Fame) for Roy
and the Silver T-Square Award for Lucy.

Jerry Dowling: Reuben Ad

From Jerry: The Great Lakes Chapter has bought a full page ad in this year's program for the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award Convention in Boston. About a dozen of us are participating with a portion of the ad. This is mine. I wanted to tie in my own style and sports connection, as well as the famous Green Monster wall at Fenway Park. The little hooded guy at the top right is Patriot's coach Bill Belichick, known for spying. Unfortunately, we couldn't use color, hence the Dirty Rat comment. I became Jerry Revere.

Jerry Dowling Post: Brett Favre

From Jerry: Tom Richmond had a workshop last year at an NCN mini-con in St. Louis. He had about thirty of us do our version of Brett Favre and then he critiqued them. We had two hours to do what we could. Mine was three quarters inked and when I saw him at the NCS convention in Hollywood this year, I mentioned that to him and he told me to finish it and show it to him at the NCN convention in Sandusky this November. He's going to be there with Dam Viviano and Mark Frederickson. Here's my piece.

Announcement: Great Lakes Chapter National Cartoonist Society Get-Together

On August 22nd at 1PM, join the Great Lakes chapter of the National Cartoonist Society for socializing, chapter biz, lunch and to hang out with other cartoonists at Champps in West Chester (accross from Rave Cinemas). There will be a private room next to the patio and it is set up to order off the menu and separate checks.
