Jerry Dowling: 1940 Reds Illustration

From Jerry: This is for a t-shirt for a bunch of guys who have a float in the Opening Day parade.

It's also going to be printed somehow on an 8 x 4 board for the float itself.

Bulldogs

A few logo concepts for a new client who trains basketball players. Obviously these are sketches, so there will be plenty of finessing. It's been a really fun project, and I hope it continues to go as well as it has thus far. I'll have a lot more to tell about it later. All I can say right now is that the client is pleased.

Books By the Banks

Books by the Banks is the Saturday from 10-4 at the convention center.

Jerry Dowling, Will Hillenbrand, Tamara Schmitz, Ryan Ostrander, Chrsitina Wald, (and my friend Scotti Cohn) will be there in addition to many others!

In other book news, I noticed that Loren Long's new book Otis is #6 on the New York Times Bestsellers in Children's Picture Books. As far as I can tell, he will not be at BBTB, but his appearances are listed on his website.

Jerry Dowling Post: Brett Favre

From Jerry: Tom Richmond had a workshop last year at an NCN mini-con in St. Louis. He had about thirty of us do our version of Brett Favre and then he critiqued them. We had two hours to do what we could. Mine was three quarters inked and when I saw him at the NCS convention in Hollywood this year, I mentioned that to him and he told me to finish it and show it to him at the NCN convention in Sandusky this November. He's going to be there with Dam Viviano and Mark Frederickson. Here's my piece.

Cover Art for New Bengals Book By Jerry Dowling

From Jerry: Here's the cover of my new book about the Bengals when they were actually good-Hence the Star Wars reference-in another millenium. It has 261 drawings in it plus the writing. Foreward by former Bengals All Pro tight end Bob Trumpy. Due out in September hopefully before they accidentally win a game.

CityBeat Art by Jerry Dowling

From Jerry: CityBeat this week. I'm supposed to stick with loacl subjects, but I figured Columbus is close enough plus Tiger is big news anywhere. I used the Nike 'SWOOSH' icon as the basis for this one.
