Christina, I am sorry but I just use a printer for a quick check and then usually use a service bureau to print out the final image. It used to be that Epson printers were the best quality for artist prints and large prints that were still affordable for home use. I really don't know what the best model is now - perhaps the Consumers Reports site would be a good start.
Consumer Reports is a start. I'd check out websites of the various computer mags (Macworld, etc) and look for reviews there. Individual blogs and customer reviews can be very helpful as well. If you need a large-size printer (11"x17") That will narrow down your choices considerably. I'm still using An Epson Photo 1400, which is expensive to run (6 individual color cartridges) but makes wonderful prints. The software has a few quirks that I don't like but have learned to live with.

Thanks! I need to do more research.

ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Thanks Chuck... It is hard because I do not print a ton anymore for portfolio. It is mostly for painting underlays.
