Tom Post is teaching a Painting Workshop August 10-11, 2013 / 9:30am - 4:00pm
This painting workshop will
focus on portraiture. Discussions will cover how to set up a painting,
develop the light and dark shapes, create clean mid tones as well as
color theory.
The workshop will begin
with a demo to illustrate these points with open discussion throughout.
There will be student painting time both Saturday and Sunday, giving
ample time to develop a painting through many of these stages. Tom’s
demo will be created in oils, but students are welcome to work in
acrylics.

Several years ago, Tom was a regular at lunches. Since then, he's put a lot more into his fine art (although he continues to do commercial work) and the effort shows. His painting style has evolved considerably over the past few years, making it very hard to stay friends with him :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't run into Tom often enough these days, but when I do, I bring my own figure drawings for him to critique. He's a very honest and thoughtful critic, so I can only assume he'd be great at running a workshop like this.
His brushstrokes and color sense reminds me a bit of Frank Duveneck and Greg Manchess, so if there's a student out there that wants to acquire that sense of impressionistic realism, this would be great option!
This looks like a great workshop. Tom does some amazing work. I saw his portfolio recently when we were doing presentations at Raymond Walters; very impressive range.
