Animated Short by Cincinnati Native Up for an Oscar This Evening
Animator Patrick Osborne's Disney short is up for an Oscar.
He is from Green Township and is a Xavier HS grad. He studied art at the Ringling School of Art and Design.
People who went to DAAP in Industrial Design may remember his father Tom Osborne teaching drawing (Design Communications). Tom was also a design director at Kenner Toys.
The Cincinnati Enquirer has a write up here:

UPDATE: He won! He gave a shout out to Cincinnati no less! I will see if there are any video interviews. This is pretty huge!

Interesting Illustrator Success Story
I recently listened to this interview again after recommending it to a friend. I am not sure if I posted a link before, but it is worth doing again if I did.
It is an NPR interview (on their show The Story) with illustrator Noah Z. Jones, the creator of the Disney animated series Fish Hooks: http://thestory.org/archive/the_story_1149_Lennart_Dahlgren.mp3/view
The description from the site: Until recently, Noah Z. Jones was a freelance illustrator and stay-at-home dad living on the coast of Maine. One day he created a website, Almost Naked Animals. Someone at Disney got turned on to Noah’s work. Soon, Noah and his family moved to L.A. where Noah could work full time on a new animated series.
It is very inspiring. When you listen, start halfway through. The interview is at the midway point of the show.
