Article On Comics and Low Pay in The Village Voice

Just read this article:  The Comics Issue: If Cartoons Are So Big, Why Don't They Pay? Drawn and nickled and dimed

It is an interesting read. I am curious what you all think... The article has an especially cool illustration. It does not make the subject matter any less depressing though...

  1. I have all kinds of thoughts on the matter, but my first thought is:
Why the hell would a magazine publish an article about artists not getting paid, when they are guilty of underpaying (or not paying) artists themselves?

  2. This has got to be the craziest, most wacky-assed publishing boner ever!

    Sad.

  3. The comments at the end of the article are interesting. One person mentions that they donot actually answer the question in the article.

Does VV have a bad reputation with artists? I do not know anyone who has worked with them. If so, the article is indeed ironic :)
