Local Movie Poster

I wanted to share this work in progress: a movie poster for a local filmmaker. The credits will be on the side of the "wall" that our young mischief makers are peering around.

The filmmaker is looking for a "punk" look for the finished piece, and she's not quite sure what she means. I plan to put the film's title and credits at slashing, conflicting angles on the wall. I don't yet know how I'm going to ink the work to "punk it up," nor how I want to use colors and color shapes. It's a puzzle that I'm working on. Your input / suggestions are welcome.

  1. Great start, Brian!
I loved the last poster you showed here, and I have no doubt you'll nail this one too!
I wouldn't want to steer you one way or another at this point.

  2. Thank you, Chuck. The composition came over Indian food with my client, but it took for-e-ver to capture the personalities of the young ladies.

I may have to just go with my gut on the final execution of this one.

  3. Looks intriguing so far. How do you plan to render it?

  4. Well, I haven't heard back from my client, so I'm going to make a concerted effort to contact her. If no answer, since I have a tight pencil sketch, I intend to go in with tight, careful lines around the facial features and brutal slashes around the edges of the forms. I've pulled it off before, but I don't think anyone in Cincinnati has ever seen that style from me.

For colors, either a Ramones style one primary color + black and white, or the new wave type colors of the girls' skating shoes and socks and shirts. Colors in jagged shapes that do not meet the edges of the poster's shape.
