This is a new illustration I did for the Trek Store in Blue Ash. The concept was to have the owner and his family riding in the Trek Team car like teams in the Tour de France. The big rider for Trek is of course Lance Armstrong. Both the owner I thought it would be funny to bring the two together. Being a huge cyclist myself, I loved the opportunity for such as fun job.
Perfect assignment for you Bruce! This is the most commercial thing I have seen you do!
ReplyDeleteIt has a nice design feel to it like the paintings we used to for industrial design when gouache was still used for product rendering...
I agree. It has the look and feel of ad illustration from the 1970's.
ReplyDeleteNice job!
Thanks. It was a lot of fun. I will say that riding bikes is much more enjoyable than drawing them!
ReplyDeleteReally really nice work, Bruce!
ReplyDeleteI used to work for Huffy Bicycles back in the 90's. (Christina worked there too for a while).
I found out pretty quickly that bikes weren't the most fun thing in the world to draw. And separating a photo of a bike from it's background is murder. The spokes —gadzooks.
I decree that any illustration job requiring the rendering of a bike or bikes have an additional 15% difficulty fee!
