Anomalisa Advance Screening- free tickets!
Good news! Flaming Medusa Animation hooked us up with a cool deal that means you can get free advance screening tickets to the Academy Award nominated stop-motion feature "Anomalisa".
Synopsis:
Where: The Esquire Theatre, Cincinnati OH
When: Tuesday Jan 19th, 7:30pm
Tip: Arrive 30-40 mins early, seats are not guaranteed and are first come first serve
Synopsis:
Michael Stone, husband, father and respected author of "How May I Help You Help Them?" is a man crippled by the mundanity of his life. On a business trip to Cincinnati, where he's scheduled to speak at a convention of customer service professionals, he checks into the Fregoli Hotel. There, he is amazed to discover a possible escape from his desperation in the form of an unassuming Akron baked goods sales rep, Lisa, who may or may not be the love of his life. A beautifully tender and absurdly humorous dreamscape, from the brilliant minds of Charlie Kaufman (SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK) and Duke Johnson ("Community" episode, Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas), this stop-motion animation wonder features the vocal cast of Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan and David Thewlis and a stirring strings-based score by Carter Burwell. The darkly comedic and surreal stop-motion journey of a man's long night of the soul, ANOMALISA confirms Charlie Kaufman's place amongst the most important of American filmmakers, and announces Duke Johnson as a major creative force.
Hope to see you there!

Make money, not starvation!
We are having a Cincinnati Animation Network meeting about basic business stuff like how to start a business, why to start a business, what it means to start a business, basic business terms, payment and invoicing, and how to apply business principles to your art. And also what some basic business principles are, because no one bothers to teach us these things in school:)
Please join us! It really doesn't matter what kind of art you make, it's basically the same.
It will be on March 28th, at 7pm.

'Tis the season for giving... and also for saying thank you for a great year.
The University of Cincinnati Athletic Department came to us at Flaming Medusa Studios because they needed an animated holiday card that would both thank their donors and also give them the opportunity to include UC Athletics in their holiday giving. So we made this! We got to animate their old mascots too- this was a pretty cool project. I also got to do some actionscripting!
You can watch the card here: http://www.animatedcincinnati.com/UC/happyholidays.html
