Horsin' Around

A few weeks back at one of our Wednesday lunches, we were looking over some of Christina's outstanding Black Beauty illustrations. I commented that I was glad that as a cartoonist I could just sidestep actual horse anatomy and draw their legs "rubber hose" style.
Well, low and behold, I unearthed this gem from my Gibson Greetings days. I actually made the attempt to render the horses in an actual horse-like manner!

  1. Those are great horses! The first card looks like it could have a really dirty punchline :)

  2. "actual horse-like manner" might be stretching it a bit... Pretty nervy that "appropriation" of your characters in the next piece. Hard to believe an artist would copy like that. But, at the same time, not hard to believe. It's a free-for-all out there. Somebody beam me up!

  3. Christina,

I thought the exact same thing when I was working on this card.

    "Ride 'em, cowboy!"

    Viki,

Notice I said, I made an "attempt" to render in an actual horse-like manner. I can only survive in the cartoon world. You ought to see some of my life drawings!

Say...there's another idea for a blog post.
