Wally Wood sketch

Too cool - one of my favorite illustrators sketches lunchbox art for one of my favorite shows as a kid...thanks and a hat tip to Tom Holtkamp! Has to be from around '63 or '64 I'd say.

  1. This is great! Does Tom have this sketch? My husband Troy is a HUGE Gerry ANderson fan.

  2. ...then he would know that the XL-5 would NEVER launch as shown...had to have the launch track and retractable buildings :-) no doubt a miscue in art direction is to blame.

  3. Thanks for posting this.

I never loved Wally more than when he did his work for the '50s Mad.

My first knowledge of the man himself was a very sad bio piece by Bhob Stewart from the 1980s Comics Journal. My first taste of fear about going into comics as a career...

  4. Spoken like a true Anderson fan. Troy has recently been watching the new Captain Scarlet. All CG from Amazon UK...
