Outer Bank Birds

This is a painting I did several years ago for a flag. I know it was produced but did not get a sample. I guess I should get on that...

The brown pelican is my favorite part. I love drawing and painting them (almost as much as herons). Below is a sticker for a program I did for Scholastic.

  1. Awesome pelican!
I especially like the way the wings arc around the head.
When they glide above the water, they always remind me of pterosaurs. I absolutely love 'em.

  2. Christina,
I also love the blue herons! When I first encountered them while canoeing - I thought that I passed in to the land of the lost - they reminded me of pterodactyls. In fact I just created a mandala made up of blue herons - maybe I should post that - doh!

I must admit that I have never seen a pelican in the wild - they are such awkward creatures on the ground but so graceful in the air.

  3. I third :P the opinions expressed above. Very nice work. Audubon would be proud :) I think I like these are some of my favourites from you.
