America's Next Great Cartoonist Contest

Submissions ended on June 4th. I just found out about it today: the Washington Post's America's Next Great Cartoonist Contest. Prize: a month of your comic strip, daily, in the Post.

Why the heck didn't we know about this? As Charlie Brown would say: sigh.

  1. The contest was broadcasted in a very low-key kind of way. If you binked, you missed the announcement.

  2. It should be low-key. Boy, count the number of times they say "might" or "possibly" in those rules. This is work-on-spec, folks. Nice of Garry Trudeau to play along. Why would anyone want their art critiqued by the one political cartoonist who couldn't caricature a president if his life depended on it.

  3. Chuck, what could you possibly have against waffles, asterisks and feathers?

I didn't read the fine print on this one. Mainly because the deadline was past, so it just didn't matter.

  4. Haha —I like that, Brian! —you left out Roman Centurian helmets and shots of the White House Rose Garden. :-)
