Help a graphic artist get to Cincinnati

A page from Kayley Provow's sketchbook

Hey gang. I'm posting this for a friend of mine. His girlfriend, Kayley Provow, is a graphic designer and illustrator in Colorado, and is looking to find an internship or job for the summer here in Cincinnati. You can view her sketchbook blog here. After looking at her sketchbook, I think she's quite talented.

Any advice you can offer her on building a portfolio, or finding a job or internship here in the summer would be appreciated. You can e-mail Kayley at gavelthegreat@gmail.com

Thanks ... and I'll make it back to a lunch soon.

  1. Cool. I don't have any connections, but I do like it. have you looked in the Artist's and Graphic Designer's Market yet? You can buy it, it's expensive, but you can also look at the library. Lots of resources and it's easy to navigate, by theme, publication type, etc. Even if she doesn't sit the submission criteria, there are numbers there that may put you in contact with someone who can help you. Plus, there's the Chamber of Commerce. They may have some info you can exploit. They will have databases with the companies available in Cincinnati. If she's not picky who she works for there are lots of options in Cincy that may give her the internship she desires or, if nothing else, give her information she can use in looking for one. Hope this helps.

  2. Wish I could be of help. Back in the day I could always suggest Gibson Greetings for young talents seeking internships.

I don't know of any large art/design studios that have such a program today. LPK maybe? I don't have any connections there these days.
